What To Expect When Going To The Chiropractor

Posted on: 2 August 2016

If you have never seen a chiropractor before you might be wondering what they do and if seeing a chiropractor is right for you. There are many benefits of seeing a chiropractor, and many people see a chiropractor regularly because of the healthy changes they notice to their body. However, if you have never gone, you might be worried about the adjustment, what to expect and reasons you should go to a chiropractor. Here are some things you need to know about seeing a chiropractor.

What Should I Expect With An Adjustment?

One of the reasons that people don't see a chiropractor is because they are worried about the adjustment. An adjustment is a very simple way to fix many problems with the body, and is very safe and generally pain free. What the chiropractor will do is first assess the body through x-rays and perhaps blood work. Then they will help to elongate the spine through the adjustment. You will sit or lay on the table and the chiropractor will actually touch your back, shoulders, and legs to help pop the spine back into place. It will be quick and will feel like you are popping joints.

How Long Are Chiropractic Appointments?

The length of the appointment varies, but generally the appointments are very quick. The first appointment will take longer because the chiropractor will need to do an assessment to figure out any problems, but if you are just going in for a standard adjustment, you can expect to only be in their for less than 30 minutes. In some cases, you might only be in the appointment for 10 minutes or so. The chiropractor will do each adjustment, and then you will be on your way.

It can take longer if you need to do something like a massage table, a balance ball or another treatment. You can ask the chiropractor up front how long they expect the appointment to take. They are generally short.

What Should I Wear To The Appointment?

Because going to the chiropractor is much like going to physical therapy, you should wear clothing that is easy to move in. You should avoid wearing a dress if you are a woman or dress clothes if you are a man. But otherwise, some simple sweatpants and a t-shirt are sufficient for most situations.

By knowing what to expect with your chiropractor appointment you can be confident that you will enjoy your chiropractor appointments. For more information, contact Yaeger Chiropractic or a similar location.
